Job description:
Engineering Support Technician qualified to develop and execute specialty material processes and support evaluation and testing of metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials used in Aerospace and D--fense programs.
Work with Materials & Processes engineers to develop and perform destructive and non-destructive techniques which include material property testing, analytical methods, failure analysis, and surface preparation
Responsibilities include interfacing with internal customers to assist in the selection, evaluation, and application of numerous materials and processes relevant to the technical activities.
Work is hands-on in a lab environment involving manufacturing process development of structural/non-structural bonding, coating, molding applications.


Essential Functions:
Metallurgical and electronic component cross-sectioning and polishing including sample preparation, potting, etching, and microscopy.

Adhesive bonding including surface preparation, cleaning, chemical etch, and priming.
Over molding and potting for cables. Design of molds.
Drawing interpretation per ASME Y14.100
Working with internal customer teams in a development lab and development type environment
Working with minimal supervision and high degree of initiative
Working with and around hazardous chemicals
Assisting in routine laboratory operations


Qualifications:
Metallurgical and electronic component cross-sectioning and polishing including sample preparation, potting, etching, and microscopy. (at least 2 + years of prior experience)
General lab testing skills
Competency in MS Office Suite and proficiency in documenting procedures
Must have prior experience in a metallurgic lab: A metallurgical laboratory is a specialized facility dedicated to studying the properties and behavior of metals and alloys.


Preferred Additional Skills:
Adhesive bonding including surface preparation, cleaning, chemical etch, and priming.
Knowledge of machining operations
Proficiency maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment


Education level required:
HS Diploma


Pay Rate: $25 - $ 30.00/hr per hour.
